Hey There!
We noticed that you're not from the Philippines!.
To provide you with the best possible shopping experience, we recommend using our International Store instead.
"Invest in your skin" is probably a statement you've heard many times. And of course, we agree - a hundred percent! Your skin is the biggest organ in your body and like any other body part, you need to give it the love and care it deserves.
When we buy high-end skincare products, we assume that what we're paying for is more than its beautifully gilded packaging. At least, that's what we hope! Unfortunately, that's not always the case.
So, do you need to be spending upwards of 8,000-10,000 a month in the name of picture-perfect skin? Not necessarily. We're here to show you what you can do to ensure you get what you pay for.
It's easy to fall into the trap of buying everything that looks good or joining in the hype of a certain product. We all have fallen victim to that (whether we'd like to admit it or not). That's the result of effective branding and marketing.
The reality is that we often buy products without really assessing whether it's the right ones for our skin's needs. So how can we go about it?
The first thing we can do is know our skin type and the problems we want to address (or prevent). Is it acne? Dry skin? You can head to the Skin Quiz tab on our website to take a quiz and figure it out! But whatever it is, list them down. Yup, we're about to go Sherlock-deep on this one!
Here's something we're all familiar with— reading. Head to The Community tab of the website to use as a resource to load up on skincare knowledge.
Now that we know the skin issues we want to address, it's time to look for skincare ingredients that are proven to solve that and which ones to avoid. For example, Benzoyl Peroxide is known to help in clearing acne. It kills the bacteria causing breakouts as well as aids in removing excess oil from the skin. If you have oily skin, you'll want to stay away from products containing alcohol. You may stick to gentler cleansers like Evenprime Cleansing Gel, Alder New York Everyday Cleanser, or Skin Need Light Cleanser.
Knowing these things will help you decipher which products are worth investing in.
Before you buy something, don't forget to check the ingredients. When a brand claims its product as the holy grail in clearing acne, ensure that key ingredients are prominent in that ingredient list before checking out your cart.
Here's a little tip — ingredients are listed in order of predominance. You can find this in the Ingredients and Product Information section for each product we carry on the website.
Note: once you've got your product, be sure to run a patch test before applying it directly to your face. You can never be too careful. Apply it on your forearm or any area you're comfortable with first to see if your skin gets irritated or if it reacts well!
Look for authentic reviews. The best way to know if a product's worth buying is to see what others are saying about it. This, however, is not a promise on how a product will work for every person.
But what's our main takeaway? We all need to do our research. Many great products are expensive because they invest in the best ingredients and studies. However, some copy the formula of existing products, make minor tweaks, then market them as groundbreaking innovations.
